What Are the Effects of Drug Use on Society?

The impact that has been brought forth by the drugs is immense and the causes have been negative. At first everything starts being negative to the users who threatens their own environment and get their lives. Then, the effect is spread to their immediate family members, friends and to the community at large.

The economy of the region they reside as well as the country also suffers immensely. This is due to the fact that there are many robberies that are encountered due to the drug addiction as well as a lot of manpower to drive the economy is also wasted since many of the drug addicts are not in a position to work. Due to this, a research that was carried out in the year 2002 showed that in the United States of America had suffered a whopping 180.9 billion dollars due to drug abuse. Sadly, Ontario is no different; Ontario has put out billions of dollars on treatment alone.

The effects trickle down to the family members, especially the children of the individual who abuse the drugs. This is due to the fact that the children are neglected in the community due to the fact that their parents are hooked up in drugs. Another research also demonstrated that the parents to the children who abuse drugs are most attentive to the drugs that they take rather than the education of their children and health as well as the food and shelter.

In the case of drug abuse children are said to be more affected. In some cases, some of the parents to these children make some of these illicit drugs in their homes and apartments. They use very dangerous chemicals and are not concerned of the harm they may cause to the small and delicate human beings. This leads to the children inhaling the chemicals which are harmful to their health as well as growth.
