Ste. Catherine is located in Ontario and it is about an hour drive away from Toronto. While the city itself does not have a lot of alcoholic problems, it has adopted them from nearby Toronto over the past couple of years. This of course means that the number of alcohol problems within Ste. Catherine is on the rise, and in order to effectively reduce this trend, Ste. Catherine will need to implement a few steps.

General Situation

Ste. Catherine was never a terrible case when it came to alcohol and problems associated with alcohol. It is a city of about three-hundred thousand, and is known as the twelfth largest city in Canada.

Over the recent years, many people have fallen prey to the influential people of Toronto. Now, the once respectable streets of Ste. Catherine are rapidly becoming littered with people that have alcohol problems.

In order to combat this assault, Ste. Catherine will need to construct new treatment facilities quickly, while also educating their youth on the importance of responsible drinking. This will reduce the chances of the situation getting worse.

Teenage Alcohol Problems

The youth of Ontario are always the biggest concern when it comes to responsible alcohol drinking. Ste. Catherine has a lower amount of alcoholic problems within its teenage population; however, like drinking in general, it too is on the rise.

Toronto teenagers make frequent visits to Ste. Catherine whenever there is some type of party going on, and the vice versa. Because of this, the teenagers within Ste. Catherine are adopting more and more inappropriate behavior. This is a pitfall for the future of Ste. Catherine, as the city is not prepared to provide the right education and ensure that these teenagers know how to drink in a responsible manner.

Furthermore, with three-hundred thousand people and the rise of alcohol dependency, the need for fully functioning treatment facilities is dire. The facilities that are in place as of this moment are not equipped or large enough to handle a growing teenage population dependent on alcohol.

Driving While Impaired

Driving under the influence continues to be a large problem across Ontario, and the same is true for Ste. Catherine. Individuals have been taught and told over and over again that driving while impaired is an extremely destructive offence and can result in imprisonment; however, people just do not believe they will get caught.

Because of this, the drunken driving rate still remains high throughout Ste. Catherine. In order to effectively reduce the overall number of drunken driving accidents, the city will need to implement a new series of educational videos and classes on the effects of driving while under the influence. They will also need to shift their goal onto catching those who do not obey the laws. This way, people will realize that they cannot get away with committing such a crime and there will be a less likely chance of them doing it.

Ste. Catherine has also adopted the new rules and guidelines set out by the government for those who drink and drive. These laws include immediate suspensions if one is caught drinking while under the influence, and also courses that one must complete in order to obtain their license again. These laws are essential to create a strong and thriving Ste. Catherine.

Treating Alcoholic Addictions

Ste. Catherine is a fairly large city, and provides its residents with adequate treatment facilities for those who have alcohol problems. All the different types of treatments are available in these facilities; however, the size of them is insufficient.

There are simply not enough facilities to deal with the increasing number of individuals who need the assistance. In addition, the treatment facilities available do not specialize in teenage cases - a pivotal downfall for the city.

In order to effectively reduce the number of those who require alcohol, Ste. Catherine must begin constructing new facilities and provide education to their teenagers. This education should include the difference between responsible drinking and irresponsible drinking, and should focus on teaching teenagers the harmful effects alcohol can have on your body.

Until these few steps are done, and Ontario alcohol treatment facilities are readily available for those who need it most, Ste. Catherine will have an increasing number of people who are dependent on alcohol.
