Information about Crack Cocaine
Crack Cocaine is a drug that is Cocaine cooked with baking soda which makes it into a rock. Then it is broken down into smaller pieces and smoked usually with a glass pipe with a screen on the end and while it is being smoked it makes cracking sound, hints the name Crack. The screen at the end of the pipe is most often a copper screen or a brillo pad. Crack came around in the early 1970’s from American drug dealers. It was by chance that they discovered Crack, they put the Cocaine on tin foil and lit it to test the purity and when they inhaled the smoke they found out the amazing high they could get from it. In the beginning people would put the Cocaine in the end of a cigarette and smoke it that way, which was called Coca puff.
Later on this led to what is now known as freebasing. During the late Seventies and early Eighties either and freebasing kits where always available to people in the local Head shops, but either was highly flammable and made making the preparations for the drug a very dangerous act. During the Eighties the drug dealers and users decided it would be safer to just use baking soda instead. This is what led to the major Crack epidemic; you could make it, bag it and sell it in the rock form for five, ten or twenty dollar bags. The simplicity and abundance of the drug made drug dealers a lot of money and for the users a very accessible drug.
There are many symptoms you can find to see if someone is on Crack or not. The easiest way is to look at their pupils; they will be huge and glassy. Another way is that they are sweating profusely and losing weight at a rapid pace. Most users will be very sensitive to lights and sounds and are very hyper. A lot of the times they will follow the very hyper stage with a stage where they sleep all the time. They normally have extreme sexual fantasies but cannot follow through because of sexual dysfunction. They will have dramatic mood changes and are aggressive, angry at life and suicidal thoughts. The abuser usually has extreme self confidence and will resort to intense arguing.
They will almost always be in denial and lie about where their money goes. They are normally in financial and legal trouble and are very good at covering it up. The user may often times have burns on their hands or lips and have trouble controlling their bladder and bowel movements. This is likely caused by an allergic reaction with the ingredients of the street drug.
