Crack Cocaine General Information and Education in Ontario

What most people know as Cocaine is actually a chemical called cocaine hydrochloride. By using a chemical process and extracting the hydrochloride it become more potent and is called freebasing. The solid form of freebased Cocaine is called Crack, and there are many reasons people use this substance rather than the original Cocaine. The reason it is called Crack is because when it is heated or smoked it makes a cracking sound so it was naturally called Crack.

Dealers normally do all the extracting and freebasing before selling it to the user, this way it is easier to move, they can sell it in smaller doses and there is less risk involved for the buyers when trying to extract it themselves. Most often Crack is sold in plastic bags or veils and most often in small quantities such as 300-500mg that would be enough for two or three inhalations. Cocaine was known as the rich man drug since the Cocaine habit was so expensive but Crack is so cheap that even the young kids can afford it, at first. Once they are addicted and they only buy enough for one or two hits, that’s when they start stealing, pawning, using sex as payment and writing bad checks.

A misconception is that people think that the only way to die from a certain drug is to overdose when that is hardly the case.

Crack can cause heart attacks, mental illness, and blood clotting. When a user continues the use of Crack they not only hurt themselves but they hurt their friends and family as well. Often times they steal, quit speaking to anyone, and avoid anyone close to them. When you use Crack you are inhaling chemicals that go from your blood stream to your brain. This only lasts for around ten to fifteen minutes and then the crash starts. Most users hate crashing so much that they have to keep using on a continuous basis to escape the pains that occur when they are coming down.

One thing that Crack users don’t think about is the effect that the chemicals have on their lungs. When the drug is inhaled it is killing the part of the lungs that clean the air before interring your body. When the Crack is inhaled it also inflames the tissue in the lugs which makes it hard to breath and causes increased heart rate. The user will normally get high blood pressure and be very energetic which can cause horrible reactions such as strokes or seizing.
